6 Things to do in Bali, Indonesia that Feel Out of this World

With summer winding down and plane ticket prices dropping, now is a great time to take a September vacation at a far more reasonable price. In a previous article, I chose vacation spots based on where popular Instagrammers went last year in September.

There were many wonderful places to choose from. However, one of these places was so different and amazing that I just had to find out more. So in this article, we’re going to take a look at why Bali Indonesia should be your next travel destination.

1. Handara Gate

There’s a good reason why this gate is a popular spot in Bali: It’s a great symbol of potential and the good things that are to come. You arrive as a traveler, (as seen on @thebalibible below), seeking relief from the stress your life back home has placed on you.

The gate is unlike any gate you have seen before. It towers over you and reminds you of the greater natural world out there.  Through the gate, you get a glimpse of the beauty and harmony of nature. Its serenity calls you like a siren.

Lulled by its charm, you can’t help but be filled with curiosity, as you feel the need to step through the gates, and as you do, you are taken aback by the mountainside. Even the tallest buildings back home feel like huts compared to the majestic view that surrounds you.

Handara Gate symbolizes the potential to find peace surrounded by the nature and spirituality of your surroundings.

2. Tirta Empul Holy Water Temple

Ever wonder what bathing in water said to come from a god would be like? Well, look no further. People come and bathe here in what is said to be a sacred spring of the Hindu god Indra, and it is no surprise as there is a genuine mystic atmosphere to this place.

The spiritual architecture mixed with the earthy surroundings will easily make you forget about worldly pursuits as you cleanse yourself of impurities while seeking inner peace.

3. Bali Swing

Remember when you were a kid and life was much simpler? Did you get to play with toys and go to the playground and have fun? Remember when you first tried the swing set?

You used your momentum to propel yourself higher and higher. After a while it was relaxing to swing back and forth. Maybe you even jumped off to add some extra excitement to the experience.

Then as you grew older you outgrew that and moved on to other things.

Well Bali has a grownup version of that that will make you feel like a kid again.

Everything about this setup is designed to make you feel like you’re back in grade school again, only this time the view is much, much better. As you rock back and forth reliving your childhood, you lose yourself gazing into the beautiful green landscape, feeling free once again.

4. Batu Molenteng Tree House

I never had a treehouse as a kid, but the idea of your own private hangout at that age sounded awesome. It would be a place to get away from it all and just relax with friends.

Fortunately, I don’t have to go back in time in order to relive my childhood. I could just take a cue from Lady Putri (@lady_putri) and go to Batu Molenteng Tree House.

How awesome would it be to get away from it all and spend some time in a treehouse overlooking that view? As you climb the stairway to treehouse heaven, you can’t help but wonder why every day can’t be like this?

Losing yourself surrounded by the island’s natural beauty, you’ll be thanking yourself later on in life that you went out of your way to take in such a unique experience.

5. Kayon Jungle Resort

After having some fun in the treehouse, perhaps you were wondering wouldn’t it be awesome if someday we will build a civilization in the trees?

The people at Kayon Jungle Resort (@kayonjungleresort) did and it is amazing:

The perfect combination of the modern and the natural, Kayon Jungle Resort gives you all the modern comforts you’ve grown accustomed to without sacrificing the exotic natural beauty you came to Bali for.

Even in such a man-made complex, you feel like you’re just a small microcosm in the grand scheme of things.

6. Permuteran’s Underwater Temple Garden

With all the spots we’ve taken a look at so far, the water made up the minority of the environment, but what if it became the majority? If you like snorkeling and spirituality, Permuteran’s underwater temple garden would be aquatic heaven for you.

Unfortunately, this is not an actual ancient temple, but it is a rehabilitation project. According to Reef Seen Diver’s Resort, In the early 2000’s the reefs were damaged by too much bomb and cyanide fishing. So in 2006, the Reef Gardners project was created to help remedy the damage.

One nice byproduct of that is this video of the Underwater Temple Garden Pemuteran Bali

Even if the temple isn’t genuine, that doesn’t change the fact that this looks like a lot of fun.

You know, now that I think about it, many people go to the mountains and isolate themselves in order to have a spiritual awakening. Wouldn’t it be a unique experience if someone found enlightenment underwater?

Go Visit Bali!

Bali is like something out of a dream. It’s like you found a hidden dimension where mankind harmonized with nature and spirituality and synthesized their individual beauties to form a hybrid super beauty.

We’ve only just scratched the surface of what this amazing island has to offer. The architecture is like nothing you’ve seen before. It’s like a beautiful movie that you can live in and interact with but with a deep and meaningful culture that is predicated on Balinese Hindu-Buddhist religion and Balinese customs.
