About Runyon

Runyon Canyon Park is located in Los Angeles and it sits on 160-acres. The part is located right near the Santa Monica Mountains and there are five ways to enter the park. One of those ways is via the southern entrance near Fuller Ave in Hollywood. 

Indian Rock is the high point in the park. Not only that, but it is common to spot celebrities at the park, due to it being close to Hollywood’s residential neighborhoods. Furthermore, the park is dog-friendly and there are over 80 parks in Runyon, with many of them allowing dogs to roam without a leash.

There are dozens of reasons. However, the top three are: 

  1. The Views- The main reason people visit the park is because of the impressive views they are treated to once they reach the top. Once there, guests will be able to take in breathtaking views of Los Angeles. If they are lucky and it’s a clear day, then they will even get a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean. 
  2. Hiking- Without a doubt, people flock to the park for the hiking trails that it offers. There is no shortage of hiking trails located throughout the park, and there is something for everyone. It doesn’t matter if someone is a highly experienced hiker or looking for a beginner trail, they will find the right trails at Runyon Canyon Park. 

It is advisable for people to do a bit of research. Generally speaking, most people will already have an idea of what trails to do when they arrive. It’s still recommended to research the trails before arriving.

  1. Off-Leash- Dogs are more than welcomed at Runyon Canyon Park. Best of all, dogs are not required to be leashed. If a visitor brings their dog, then they can let it off leash. Dogs cannot get enough of Runyon Canyon Park. 

 

Tips For Hiking Runyon 

There are a few tips people want to keep in mind. First, they should bring plenty of water with them. Sometimes the weather may be a bit rainy and cool, but it can quickly turn into a very hot day. 

The second tip is to set aside a few hours. Generally speaking, people should expect to spend 2-3 hours at the park. If someone is taking many photos and taking their time walking, then they should expect to spend 4-5 hours there. 

The earlier people get to the park, the better. This is because the mornings tend to be the coolest part of the day. However, anytime is a good time to go to Runyon Canyon Park if a person can’t get there in the morning.
