Holidays and Nostalgia in Marketing

With the year we have been having, comfort and familiarity are becoming the go to for everyone. The holiday season is upon us, and opens the biggest shopping season of the year! Holidays also help raise desire for tradition and nostalgic feelings, and marketers have found that using emotions and nostalgia within their marketing campaigns to attract customers to their products has been a good opportunity this year. This can be a great way to advertise your products, but has a few risks attached to it:

  • Using emotions in marketing has long been known to be a power force in gaining attention and later in gaining customers. With today’s trend though, we cannot rely on nostalgia alone in the marketing, we need to ensure we are offering something new, yet familiar when building the marketing campaign.
  • Be aware of what you are selling, and the brand of your company. If you are trying to tie a discordant emotion with the type of nostalgic advertising you are using, it can turn customers off from what is said and from the company as a whole. Make sure that the message you are sending reflects accurately your audience’s feelings towards the company and product.
  • Be balanced in your message. Using too many heavy emotions in the advertising can be a turn off for many consumers. Keep the message nostalgic, without being too heavy or overdosing the content to the consumer.

Play up on the happy feelings that holidays can give to your customers in your advertising. Nostalgia can be a powerful tool for any marketer to use. It’s a warm familiar concept that has helped many to get through this year! May your use of nostalgia in your campaigns be helpful in increasing the attention, and hopefully sales that consumers give your company!

Feature Friday with

We had a wonderful Q&A with the CEO & founder of Biites, as well as her partner.

There was certainly not a dull moment during this wonderful Friday! Nina Jacobsen and Helle Falck joined us via live feed all the way from Denmark to give us an opportunity to ask them some questions.

Biites is a platform that allows for longer streaming for brands to post their stories. Amazingly this platform has shown amazing results with the average engagement time lasting as long as 30+ minutes just with one brand video! This shows a definite change in the behaviors of audiences.

Biites currently features upwards of 150 brands on their site and are willing to showcase so many more.

Biites showcases documentaries and great stories from amazing brands. The amazing part about this is you can stream for free.

Go check out Biites, see how they have worked with current businesses. And who knows you could be the next featured brand.
