The End Of Instagram As We Know It?

Breaking News – Instagram is no longer a photo sharing app.

According to the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri the platform will be pivoting to focus on these 4 key areas:

  1. Creators
  2. Video
  3. Shopping
  4. Messaging

We all know what this means – As a marketer or brand, if you want to get an extra boost from the algorithm you should jump on any newly released features with urgency.

As to what these new features will be?

It’s unclear at this stage.

Mosseri has claimed that Instagram no longer wants to be thought of as the “square photo-sharing app.”

Furlough’s Take:
Personally, we believe that Instagram has felt the sting from more casual apps like TikTok, and have since decided to make moves on changing the platform. By focusing on creators, they will be encouraging more content to be generated and shared through the site, meaning more eyes and time spend on the platform by consumers.

Will SEO Be Obsolete in The Future? Here’s What John Muller Has to Say.

It is clear that AI has taken a major role in the framework of digital marketing.

There are tools to help marketers generate extensive sales copy with just a few keystrokes.

And, just a few weeks ago we even featured a tool in this newsletter that could help you come up with design palettes for brands, taking out the guessing work for business agency owners.

However, when it comes to SEO marketers wonder if Google’s Machine Learning will ever come to the point that it replaces SEO altogether?

Senior Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google, John Mueller, was asked this question in a recent hangout on Youtube.

His answer?

He doesn’t think that will happen anytime soon.

“And I think that evolution will continue and there will be more and more tools available and you’ll be able to do more and more things in a way that kind of works fairly well for search engines and it’s not that the SEO work will go away but rather it will evolve.”

📈 E-Commerce

Effectively Defend Your Brand Against E-Commerce Attacks

Online store vendors like you are under attack from competitors that want to see your e-commerce store go belly up.Negative reviews, hijacks, and other sabotage methods do not just hurt online sales. That is only the brink of the problem.

These nefarious acts can actually lead to platforms like Shopify and Amazon shutting down your store altogether.

So how do prepare to defend yourself against attacks like these?

Furlough’s own Adrianna Zubieta has some tips for you that you will want to put into practice immediately.

  1. Don’t ignore negative comments: Use technology like SemRush and socialmention.com to track reviews on your site. And, always report suspicious negative reviews as abuse to your platform.
  2. Be on the lookout for inconsistencies: Monitor your ads, social media, and website for inconsistencies (such as a sudden and unexplainable uptick in clicks on an ad without any sales)
  3. Invest in security: Think about putting your money towards tech companies like Cloudfare and Incapsula that can detect malware and provide https encryption to prevent traffic hijacking
