The New Instagram Updates You Can Jump On

Let’s hop over to Adam Moseri’s world of Instagram to see the new updates on the platform and how you can take advantage of that to grow your brand or business. 

Instagram over the last week had been on a spree of releasing new features on their platform. The biggest update of the bunch is that they would no longer be continuing with IGTV, let’s not pretend we didn’t know that was coming.

They have introduced a new video feature called Instagram videos which will be “IGTV and Feed videos into one video format.” These videos will be able to be as long as 60 minutes in length, but will still have a 60-sec preview on the actual feed.

Here is a summary of all the video features on IG:

1. Instagram Stories: For everyday videos that will last only 24 hours.
2. Instagram Reels: For Short-form video content up to 60 seconds in length.
3. Instagram Video: For longer-form video content up to 60 minutes in length.
4. Instagram Live: For real-time streams up to 4 hours in length.

They also added that they are introducing more “updates to make creating and discovering videos easier.”
Hopefully this time these updates really help with discovery.

How can this help your business?

There is still hope for discovery and growth on Instagram, Vol, one of the members of our community who specializes in growing Instagram pages has realised from his data that by posting only one type of content, you are likely to grow quicker, so it’s better to only focus on posting reels or to only focus on posting pictures instead of a hybrid.

In my opinion, it seems Instagram is morphing into a video-sharing platform with photography as the sidekick. Roslyn on the other end, predicts that Instagram will become a shopping platform eventually.
